MAASI Contributed Significantly To Farmers’ Improvement
By Austin Ofori Addo:
Mr. Michael Tetteh- Leader for Hope for the Future, a Farmer Based Organization (FBO) located at Asesewa in the upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern region has lauded the contributions of the Mobilizing Action towards Agriculture Sector Improve (MAASI) project whose impact on their farming activities he contends is significant.
Mr. Tetteh who made the allusions in an interview on the Rite Morning Ride on Monday with host Krobea Asante observed that the MAASI programme has immensely contributed to the improvement in their farming outputs.
‘MAASI is really making an impact on our businesses since through the project most farmers have learned how to apply the right amounts of chemicals to their crops and even the right time to apply. Initially, most farmers don’t deem it necessary to even keep their farm records in order to know their annual outputs but after the project, farmers now keep their records and other benefits.’
The leader for Hope for the Future FBO was also excited that the project has introduced farmers to meet the right stakeholders like the Extension Officers and other agric experts to train them on the use of machineries and he can testify that this farming season, the challenge of using farm implements is low.
He lauded Rite FM for their massive support and education for farmers and the agriculture sector as a whole.
Rite FM’s Mobilizing Action towards Agriculture Sector Improve (MAASI) Project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development and aimed at improving resource allocation to six surrounding districts including Upper Manya Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo, Shai-Osudoku, Asuogyaman, Akuapem North and Yilo Krobo.
