‘’I am very Passionate when it comes to Development’’–Mr. Goldman Dodzie
Story by: Elizabeth Frimpong:
A Unit Committee Member of Agormanya Electoral Area, Mr. Goldman Dodzie on Tuesday May 17, 2016 has described the state of Agormanya market as appalling situation which needs to be tackled immediately. He issued this statement on Rite 90.1 FM’s morning ride segment, ‘Feed the Future Platform’.
Reaffirming to the grievances of the market women, he said, despite the levy the traders in the market pay every day and annually, there have been no developmental projects in the market. He said the traders are charged expensively for transporting their goods to the market due to the poor road network. ‘’ I am very passionate when it comes to developments and people should attach passion to the situation without politicizing it and find solution to develop the market’’ he added.
According to him, ‘’ the lamentations of the traders in the market are true and cannot defend it as a Member of the Unit Committee and as a Community Leader as well since the situation is very deplorable, especially during rainy season, the market place becomes flooded and washes all their goods away’’. He deeply lamented further that, the lockable stores that were built in the name of the market women were given to prominent people in the Municipality but not for the ordinary traders. He pleaded to the Assembly to attend to the market and develop the place.
The Public Relations Officer of the Lower Manya Municipal Assembly, Mr. Tetteh Sika on the same platform also assured the market women of their plans towards the development of the market but unless they change their character before the Assembly will be able to do it. He said the lockable stores were given to those who applied for them. He further explained to Rite 90.1 FM that, the farm products in the market are not sufficient for the traders. Mr. Sika therefore advised the youth within the Municipal to engage in agribusiness to be able to produce more products for the market.
