Yilo Krobo Health Directorate Holds Review Meeting

The Yilo Krobo Municipal Health Directorate on Tuesday 13th August, 2019 organized half year health review meeting at the Municipal Assembly Hall as all it health Sector stakeholders in the Municipality were present.

This all important health sector stock taking event was chaired by the Member of Parliament for the Yilo Krobo Constituency, Hon. Magnus Kofi Amoatey and co-chaired by Hon. Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor; MCE for Yilo Krobo Municipality.

Dr. Stephen Manortey of Ensign College of Public Health, Kpong, Nene Ayertey Ayiborku II, Divisional Chief of Bornya in the Yilo Krobo Traditional area represented the traditional authorities, Mr. Richard Essien, Eastern Regional EPI Coordinator for the Regional Health Directorate were some dignitaries who graced the function.
Sub Municipal leaders and facility heads in the municipality read the state of activities in their facilities and various areas of operation.


Mrs. Irina Ofei, Yilo Krobo Municipal Health Director during her overview presentation on the state of health in the municipality, stated that their major challenges are infrastructure and the security of staff who are stationed in the rural areas.
She has however, appealed to the Hon. MCE and the MP for the area to focus on renovating some of the old facilities that her Nurses are occupying in as Community Health based Planning and Services (CHP) compounds.
Advising the general public especially residents of Yilo Krobo, Mrs. Irina Ofei asked them to report any strange illness to the nearest health facility since the municipality and it’s surrounding districts have recorded some suspected cases of tropical diseases including yaws and buruli ulcer.


Hon. Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor in his key note address, applauded the efforts of the entire health sector work force in his Municipality as he announced the Assembly’s plan to complete all ongoing CHPS compoud projects for use within the coming months.
Meanwhile, the Hon. MCE instructed the Municipal Health Director and her team to make available a comprehensive data document on all emergency needs of the health directorate for a possible collaborate with other individuals and cooperate bodies.
Hon. Kupaulor has welcomed the team of medical staff from the ultra modern 350 beds capacity private hospital, Kings & Queens Teaching Hospital situated at Okwenya in the Yilo Krobo municipality, and assured them of maximum cooperation from all the departments of the assembly.
Other partners including Socioserve Ghana, The hunger Project, National Health Insurance Scheme, Ghana Education School, National Ambulance Service, Ensign College of Public Health, Kpong, Dodowa Research Center were also in attendance as they also presented their partnership and operations activities with the health directorate in the municipality.

Religious leaders, Representatives, and cross section of the general public witnessed the all important health sector event.
