Yilo Krobo to Get Two Irrigation Dams
Farmers in Poponya and Kponokle in the Yilo Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region will soon be benefitting from two irrigation facilities to enhance their farming system.
The Project funded by government of Ghana and undertaking by Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly in connection with Ministry of food and Agriculture will serve the two communities and its environs.
Speaking on the ‘Akuafo Si Sen’ a segment on Rite FM’s Morning Ride, the Municipal Chief Executive for Yilo Krobo Hon. Andrew Obu Soda said the aim of the assembly is to alleviate poverty among the farming communities and with these irrigation facilities farmers are going to improve their farming activities as well as help them boost their production.
He noted that the two contracts have already been awarded and the sod cutting ceremony will come off tomorrow at Poponya, adding that the assembly has formed a committee made up of the community members, private sector players and headed by Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) to ensure adequate preparation towards the construction of the irrigation projects.
