The newly elected chairman of the Somanya Mango Growers Association, in the Yilo Krobo municipality, Rev. Lomo has assured mango farmers in his municipality that they are going to see much improvement under his tenure as chairman of the association.
He said most of the farmers relied on the local markets to sell their produce which results in some of their produce getting rotten when the patronage does not meet the output of their work.
Speaking on the Rite Morning show on Wednesday, Rev Lomo explained that most of the mango produced does not meet the international standards and that his vision is to raise the quality of mangoes produced in the area for the export market rather than relying solely on the local market.
He added that, the association needs to go all out and acquire standard inputs for the farmers to enhance their farming practices hence improving the quality of mangoes produced.
He has therefore called on all the association members to cooperate with him to enhance the longevity of the association, adding that it’s only when the welfare of farmers are improved that every member shall have enjoy the fruits of their labour.
