Farmers will soon clad in red-Opambour

The acting national youth coordinator for Ghana national association of farmers and fishermen (GNAFF), Nana Obodea Opambour Bonsu Boateng II has stated that, farmers will soon clad in red to tell government how furious they are.

In an interview on the Agric Forum last Saturday, he stated that, “if Dr. Opuni, the boss of COCOBOD will not resign then cocoa farmers will demonstrate against him which will be a very big disgrace to him because he has not put any measures in place to help farmers”. He revealed

Nana Obodea stated that, the government initiated a cocoa scholarship scheme to cocoa farmers but most cocoa farmers did not benefit it. “I therefore suggested that, the scholarship scheme should be published to know the number of farmers’ wards who benefited from the scholarship scheme but the authorities gave a death ear to it”.  He mourned.

According to him, he does not know if we have authorities in this country, those who are classified as authorities are all selfish minded because they only think of their pocket and the luxurious life they want to have living the small scale farmers only which is very bad.

It is stated that cocoa business is monopoly therefore farmers cannot sell their cocoa products to any one apart from the government but the government seem not to help them in any ways. He noted

He therefore urged all farmers especially cocoa farmers to rise up and tell the government how furious they are and that they, farmers cannot be taken for granted.
