NDC Parliamentary Primaries: Hon. Terlabi Launches Campaign After Filing of Nomination

Incumbent Honourable Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo and ranking member Parliamentary Select Committee on Environment, Science and Technology, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi has on Thursday filed his nomination at the NDC’s constituency office at Nuaso, to officially announce his third term parliamentary bid.

The MP who was accompanied by scores of enthusiastic party faithful jubilant and branch executives amid brass band music, paraded the principal streets of the constituency en route to the party office.

He presented his nomination forms to party secretary Atenas Frederick Okoro who assured his followers that his forms were adequately filled as required.

Addressing party supporters at the forecourts of the party office after the nomination, HonourableTerlabi charged his supporters not to relent in their support for him and the NDC despite efforts of detractors to discourage them.

“Your MP is a leader in parliament and so if anybody asks you to change him, then that person is asking you to go back,”  said the lawmaker to a jubilant crowd of well-wishers.

“You have shown that we began this journey together and this is not where we are going to return.”

According to the two term MP, though the contest is an internal contest between him and other contestants in the constituency, ‘outside forces’ aware of his pedigree as an experienced politician and lawmaker are scheming to get an ‘inexperienced’ person to replace him to leverage on that to deny the constituency its due of developmental projects.

“These schemers lost their bid for re-election and are plotting to see me out for a new person so that your share of the national cake will not come to you but go to them,” Honorable Okletey warned.

Launching his campaign later Thursday at the forecourts of his office, the MP who called for utmost unity in the party, cautioned supporters, well wishers and sympathisers to run a decent campaign devoid of personal attacks and slander.

Constituency Secretary of the party, Frederick Atenas Okoro reiterated the MP’s call for a decent campaign and assured the party faithful of NDC’s victory come election 2020.

Rite FM check as at 6:00 pm when the party’s office staff were closing indicates that, none of the remaining five has filed their nominations.

On closing of nomination on Friday July 12, 2019, six aspirants were confirmed to have picked forms.

Among them are Hon. Michael Teye Nyaunu, a four consecutive time member of parliament, Dr. Joseph Teye Nuertey, former Regional Health Director, Lawyer Benedicta Laasi Koryo, Mr. Michael Addo Brown, former district MASLOC coordinator and the constituency Youth Organizer, Mr. David Tettey – businessman
