Martin Amidu is not corrupt – Anas

Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has dismissed claims from certain quarters that anti-corruption campaigner, Martin Amidu, might be corrupt hence his resolve to fight him (Anas).

“I don’t think Uncle Martin is corrupt…he is entitled to his view and we must respect that…I have to be focused on my job…,” Anas said on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show (SMS) in an answer to a question on whether he thought Martin Amidu was corrupt.

Anas was a special guest on the show where he answered numerous questions concerning his revelations on the judiciary.

Anas and Amidu clashed after the former Attorney General accused Anas and his Tiger Eye PI of operating illegally. Amidu alleged further that Anas was sponsored by the government to unearth corruption in the Judiciary in order to take attention away from political corruption.

Allegations Anas and the government have both rejected.

Anas further advised ‘Uncle Martin’ to respect his style of fighting corruption and stop accusing him falsely.

Anas said he respects Mr. Amidu’s style of fighting corruption and believes that the former A-G must accord him the same respect.

The investigative journalist was reacting to Martin Amidu’s attacks on him following his investigations into corruption in the country’s judiciary.

The former Attorney General has insisted that the investigation was commissioned by the government, an accusation Anas has vehemently denied.

“Uncle Amidu claims that I have withdrawn some videos. Where are the videos? Who did I leave out?” he quizzed.

He noted that, “I respect him [Martin Amidu] so much. He has his own style of anticorruption, which perhaps if you give me the next 15 years I will not be able to. I beg him, I also do mine. He should give me the freedom, he is not going to pick and choose what I should do.”

These remarks notwithstanding, Anas insists Martin is not corrupt and that he is only trying to be a ‘distraction’ to him.

Martin Amidu, he said, is not the only person (distracting him) but ‘even my own friend Egbert Faibille.’

“Likewise Nkrabeah Effah Dartey, they are only expressing their views.”
