Maurice Asola Fadola, the convicted fraudster who escaped from the Nsawam Prisons last week has been re-arrested, StarrFMonline.com can confirm.

Asola Fadola was arrested on Monday, sources within the security agencies have told StarrFMonline.com.

He was arrested with the assistance of officials of the National Security.

Fadola was convicted and sentenced for internet fraud last year.

He defrauded some British widows and pensioners of about £800,000. He reportedly posed as an Army General who needed money for emergency medical services.

He was subsequently arrested and slapped with a five-year jail term by the Financial Division of the High court in Accra after his victims filed a complaint of his activities with the police.

He was also convicted on 28 counts of defrauding by false pretenses. One count of money laundering, one count of possession of forged document (a passport bearing his picture but with a different name) and one count of possession of firearm without lawful authority.

Prosecuting the case, Principal State Attorney, Mrs. Marina Appiah Opare; last year told the court that all victims of the accused are Brits resident in the United Kingdom (UK).

Maurice had made several false representations leading to each of the seven victims remitting varied sums of British pounds to him. The victims namely Christine Bernadette Barlow, Dena White, Elizabeth Graham, Maureen Main, Apasra Saunders, Jacqueline Owen, and Katherine Norah Clarke had been victims of Fasola’s online romance scam leading to each of them losing different sums of money remitted to him.
