Agriculture census committee inaugurated in Eastern Region

A district management team to oversee the implementation of the country’s census of agriculture has been inaugurated in the Eastern Region.

The main objectives of the census is to produce and disseminate complete and reliable agriculture data to meet the needs of users for informed decision making as well as for monitoring development programmes. It will specifically provide information on the rural sector and the structure of agriculture.

Speaking on the ‘morning ride’ program on Rite FM, Mr. Frederick Gyebi who is the Director of Minister of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in the Eastern Region  said the exercise is a nationwide programme which the Eastern Region is included and his outfit has begun inaugurating the committee who will undertake the exercise in the various districts.

He said they have begun inaugurating the committee from the Afram Plains, Oda and Atiwa and yesterday they were able to inaugurate the committee in the Yilo Krobo District.

Mr. Gyebi further stated that, this census will benefit farmers a lot because it will provide solid systems for knowing the necessary information about farmers in an area hence when there is the need for government to implement policies, farmers will not be left out.
