Cocoa Mass Spraying Beneficiary to Boycott Work over Unpaid Salaries

Some aggrieved staff of the cocoa mass spraying exercise in the Amansie West District of Ashanti have threatened a demonstration over unpaid salaries.
The dejected staff told newsmen that they will soon stop work, hinting that plans towards the demonstration are far advanced.
“We will soon boycott work because we have work for so many months without pay, our families are even fed up with us’, they said.
The aggrieved workers say their meager salary, as well as allowances, given to them, have left them perpetually assigned to hardship.
The workers believe their working conditions are very poor and want the government to improve the condition to boost their commitment towards the work.
The spokesperson for the group numbering about 366, Mr Afriyie David said, their monthly salary is Ghc200 which is insufficient for the workers yet they have devoted to do the work since there’s no work in the system but with these small amount money the district officers are refusing to pay.
Expressing their disappointment, they attribute all the salary delayance to the district officer with name Master Kwame which they believed has blocked the money for his own interests.

“Life has become really hard for us because we are not been paid properly and the little we have is been spending on treatment of the work related diseases”, they explained.
Moreover, they hinted that, if their request were not able to get needed response, all the workers will boycott work and hit streets to stage a massive demonstration against the district officers and as well as the government.
