Members of pro-opposition pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance, who were attacked by some Police personnel on Wednesday are threatening legal action against the police service.
The affected protesters are of the view that the Police gravely abused their rights by their actions on the day.
The National Coordinator of the pressure group, “Let My Vote Count Alliance” -David Asante- said the necessary moves are underway to ensure that they get justice.
“Our plan is to mount a class action in court against the Police for the violence that occurred at Wednesdays event.”
He said ever since the incident occurred they have been working “to see that the injured received medical care and those arrested received legal support.”
David Asante also called on the President to state his position on the attacks saying “we expect President John Dramani Mahama to come out to condemn this unlawful act of violence by the Police against the demonstrators.”
In a related development, the 2016 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo is calling for a presidential probe into the matter.
“I believe in the President of the Republic is in duty to establish a commission of enquiry to go into events of yesterday to see how come the Police behaved the way that they did,” Nana Addo requested.
