PERD program, Yilo Krobo MCE Donates Mango Seedling To Farmers.

A total number of 264 mango farmers in the Yilo Krobo Municipality on Thursday 8th August, 2019 received Government’s support as Hon. Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor, MCE for the Municipality presented to the farmers mango seedlings under planting for Export and Rural Development initiative of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

The program is aimed at commercialization and industrialization in the Agricultural sector to produce enough for export to boost income generation true foreign exchange.

Hon. Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor in the early hours of the day met with the beneficiaries at the Yilo Krobo Municipal MoFA office, where he advised farmers to take this government support very serious since the assembly is investing hugely in the all important PERD initiative.

For the initiative not to take the certified and trained mango seedling producers in his area out of business, the Assembly under leadership of Hon. Kupualor met with certified producers: a successful agreement to procure the seedlings by government under a subsidized price was agreed upon.

The Hon. MCE is assuring the general public that the Assembly under his leadership is committed to facilitate the process of producing more mango seedlings to support already mango farmers and new ones who are yet to join the industry to be able to produce more in his Municipality for both export and rural development.

For every one acre of land, the farmer receives 60 seedlings of Mangoes to support the Mango farmers expansion project under the Planting for Export and Rural development initiative which is also aimed at increasing the Mango production in the Yilo Krobo Municipality as it is known nationwide for the best Mango Production to be able to sustain the proposed Mango Processing factory under the 1 District 1 factory initiative

Mr. Daniel Oduro, Yilo Krobo Municipal MoFA Director has garanteed the beneficiaries of maximum Agric Extension support from himself and his team of extension officers to sustain the seedlings for a better yielding in the near future to make Yilo a mango hub.

A young female beneficiary, Gloria Afi expressed her heart felt appreciation to the government and the Municipal Chief executive for giving her this opportunity to do something positive to support herself and her kids in the near future.
