Fire Safety Must Be Part Of Our Education Curriculum- Kwaku Asante

By Catherine Ahiador:

Fire safety is one vital skill whose awareness creation among farmers has been intensified among the country’s farmers especially in the face of recent raging fires which has left a number of farmlands ravaged.

In this regard, Mr. Kwaku Asante, chairman for the Akwamumam Fire Volunteers and Agro Forestry Brigade has raised a number of concerns regarding the phenomenon. On Monday, Mr. Asante on Rite FM’s Akuafo Sesen with Krobea Asante explained that fire safety was a very vital skill that everyone, especially farmers must acquire in order to enhance their fire prevention and safety concerns.

In his opinion, fire safety must be part of our educational curriculum. That is not all, he equally advocated for the fire safety being made an essential part of our Basic Education and Junior High School syllables. This he opines would ensure that fire safety measures are imparted into kids at an early age.

‘By so doing when they grow up to be adults, they will have some knowledge about fire safety and prevent fire outbreaks at work places,’ he argued. He also added that for this to be made a reality, the Ghana National Fire Service together with stakeholders must come together to make fire prevention a priority of every Ghanaian citizen.
