Dorcas Foundation Ghana Donates To 3 Health Centers In Lower Manya

Two Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) based in Ghana and Denmark respectively; Dorcas Care Ghana and Dorcas Care Denmark have collaborated to donate medical equipment and consumables worth over 500, 000.00 Danish Crown to individuals and 3 health facilities in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal.

The two philanthropist bodies are sister organizations base in Lower Manya Krobo (Ghana) and Denmark.

The donation was to assist in improving access to quality healthcare services in the municipal.

The lists of items presented included hospital beds, mattresses, a lift, patient and instrument trolleys, wheelchairs, walking aids and quantities of medical consumables like gloves, syringes and bandages.

Health care delivery in rural Ghana generally faces dire challenges, with a large portion of rural communities still without access to basic health care services.

Some communities lag behind in all the vital numbers such as the number of health care facilities, health workers or hospital facilities, as against the large army of patients seeking care.

Speaking at each of the three health centers namely; Nuaso and Kpongunor Community base Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and the Atua Government Hospital in a handing over ceremony Wednesday, Ms. Dedo Edith Pardy, chairperson of Dorcas Foundation Ghana said, their priority is to care for the health of the aged and the disabled.

She also underscored the need for the private sector to support health care providers and facilities in the country, hence the passion for her foundation.

Madam Marylove Nai Willaims, head of nursing at the Atua Government Hospital received the items on behalf of the hospital and commended the NGO for the gesture.

“We say a big thank you and we appreciate the things you brought. It is going to help us in delivering our duties; we’ll use it as it should be and maintain them that it will keep long,” she said.

Mr. Prosper Agidi, a clinical nurse at the Kpongunor CHPS also thanked the team and said the facility needed most of the items presented to assist in their work and further called for help to combat the bad odor following their nearness to a public toilet.

 Dorcas Foundation Denmark and Seniors (DCFD/SuG) through it Chief Executive has promised to offer diverse support to ensure quality health delivery in Ghana.

Some dignitaries who graced the event were Hon. Samuel Torgbor, Assembly member of Nuaso Electoral Area, Nene Sangmortey Obuerhene, Chief of Nuaso Korleya, Mr. Nii-boye Djani, coordinator of Dorcas Foundation Ghana, Mr. Samuel Ghartey, administrator of Atua Government Hospital among others.
