Aflatoxin Is A Silent Killer
Mr. Nelson Asiedu, chief Executive Officer of Annex ‘A’ Enterprise has noted that Aflatoxin is a silent killer because it belongs to a group of toxic compounds produced by fungi, which contaminates stored crops due to heat and the activities of insects and rodents.
Mr. Asiedu in an interview with Rite FM noted that Aflatoxin is a metabolic and toxic substance produced by certain fungi that are found in food including grains.
He said Aflatoxin could result in many health problems including liver infection and could also cause cancer. Mr. Asiedu therefore called for concerted effort from stakeholders and a strong leadership in the fight against it.
