Photos: Rite FM Brings Joy of Easter to Hundreds of Underprivileged People at Kordiabe

As has always been for the past six years, Rite FM embarked on yet another outreach Easter program, this time, to the Kordiabe community in the Shai Osu district of the Greater Accra Region.

The orphaned, widows, the aged, physically-challenged, young and old, mostly young; men and women, mostly women, hundreds of them confined to the armpits of society, forced to live on stipends, found their way to their park of hope at Kordiabe.

They had walked several distances from several corners of the Kordiabe community as well as kilometers from neighboring communities including Doryumu, Gidekekum, Manya, Downtown, Shai Hills, etc.

It was their walk of hope, of faith, but with a promise, an assurance of a hot delicious meal, a drink, and confectionaries, new and old clothes to keep them going at least for the day, a week or even the month.

For many years, the Feed and clothe the needy event has become a symbol of emotional attachment not just for the poor, the needy and the vulnerable in the society but the media with a purpose, the affluent with a heart of gold and a conscience.

For the patrons, the field and clothe the needy event has become an occasion to share, dance, sing and to bury the pain, the frown of a difficult life, even if for a day.

Naomi Amoni, a 45-year-old widow expressed deep appreciation to Rite and its partner, the Agape Church for the gesture: “We are grateful to Rite FM and the Agape Church for this sign of love. This is the first of its kind in many years and we thought we have been left out of such activities,” she told Rite FM.

83-year-old Seth Adjanor also called on Rite FM to hold the event annually in the community.

Another beneficiary on the day, Madam Hannah Doku, a 52-year-old physically-challenged also thanked Rite FM for the event.

The Rite FM Corporate social responsibility is a religious tradition by the station to fete the poor and the needy on a day as special as the picnic day.

A station with a solid foundation in Christianity, the feed and clothe the needy has always been a great opportunity for the station, its partners, mostly donors to show love to the forgotten idols of the society.

And what a day it is turning out be. At 2:00 pm, hundreds of beneficiaries had been served with their hot meals. Many others still remain in the queue waiting their turn to be served.

Also available to lend a helping hand were individuals and groups who showed up to assist the organizers to feed and clothe the needy in this society.

As part of the highlights of the event, some members of the community including kids and the elderly were fed to meals and drinks. Staff of the station also spent time interacting with members of the community.

Officials of the Agape House Church which partnered Rite FM in this venture equally donated items including clothing, shoes and bags to men, women and children as part of their effort to clothe the needy.

Officials of the church on behalf of the institution and Rite FM presented the items to the community who received them with glee and excitement.

The items were presented in the hope that it will go a long way to help those who actually need them.

Previous editions of the event had seen the station feeding and clothing some communities such as Akate, Kudikope, Oborpah, Gyakiti, Kpong and Akorley all in the eastern region.
