Reacting to the story carried by our sister station that

“the National Democratic Congress NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya Krobo, Ebenezer Teye Larbi, says he is surprised by the extent to which some Ghanaians are exaggerating the effects of the energy crisis, he said it was strange that the poor who cannot afford basic household electrical gadgets are the ones who are complaining about the power crisis. The effects of Dumsor are “exaggerated by people who cannot afford to buy fridges or air conditions in their homes,” he said. The NDC Legislator who was reacting to cries on the government to end the crisis on Asempa FM’s Ekosii FM programme further called on Ghanaians to rather invest their “energies into thinking” outside the box than lamenting over the impact of the power crisi.”

He denied ever making the statement claiming, the radio station that interviewed him put out a wrong story. He explained that, perhaps the local language he spoke on our sister station, Asempa FM, was either misunderstood or misquoted. Hon. Terlabi has therefore pleaded that Ghanaians should not misinterpret what he has said since that is not the statement he made in the story.

In reaction to the MP’s Comments, Rite FM interviewed the Former MP for Lower Manya Constituency; Hon. Micheal Teye Nyaunnor said he finds it hard to believe that the current MP really made that statement. Though acknowledging the fact that the ongoing Energy crisis has made caused employers to lay off workers, worse affected being Barbers, Hairdressers, Welders etc., If the current MP’ truly made that statement, then it’s an unfortunate situation.
