A representative of a Farmer – based organization in Asutsuare in the Greater Accra Region has said that he hoped the Mobilizing Action towards Agriculture Sector Improvement, MAASI workshop held at Dodowa would help address most of the issues confronting rice farmers in the Shai Osudoku District.
In an interview with Rite News, Mr. Gabriel Agbesi said they had a lot of expectations going into the workshop such as how to improve their farming activities, the need for the district to have farming equipment, as well as how to effectively market the rice.
Mr. Agbesi said it was high time the Shai Osudoku district recognized rice farmers in the district which he said constituted some 3000 members while hoping that the district assembly would act promptly to provide the group with a combine harvester to help in harvesting the large tons of rice produced.
He said the district’s assertion that they don’t get much from agriculture was due to the fact that the sector was largely neglected in the district and urged them to put more into it.
He also added that the Chinese who blocked their source of irrigation to their farms had also been stopped from their operations.
