Tsetseflies Invade Okwenya

Mr. Isaac Nyumutei, a Veterinary Officer at the Lower Manya Krobo district in the Eastern Region has revealed that tsetse flies have taken over the Okwenya Township. This he attributed to the presence of cattle in the area which has necessitated them putting in place traps to catch these insects.

Speaking to Mr. Nyumutei on the Rite news he said, these insects carry the popular disease known as sleeping sickness which in turn affects both human and animals. He explained that when a person tests positive, they in turn call medical experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) to treat them.

He said the animals are also tested for any infections but their focus remains on humans.
