Hold Chiefs Responsible For Fulani Nightmare

President for the Concerned Farmers Association, Nana Opambour Bonsu Boateng II has stated unequivocally that Ghanaians should blame their chiefs for the constant spate of clashes between nomad Fulanis and local communities. According to him, Fulanis have never harrboured any idea of killing the innocent people of the communities in which they find themselves.

Speaking on Rite FM’s Agric Forum on Saturday, Nana Opambour made it clear that the chiefs gave the land to those Fulani herds men for settlement and later gave them deadly weapons to protect their animals and since the locals also have cattle, that has been the main cause of the conflict between the Fulani men and the people of Agogo.

Nana Opambour further stated that deputy minister of agric in charge of crops, Hon. Alhassan Yakubu is responsible for the fall of the agric sector in the country and who does not deserve to continue his mandate.

According to him, cocoa production has fallen to an all time low and he is not doing anything about it. He said when about 2000 hectares of cocoa plantation are being destroyed at Asikasu and they have sent letters to the authorities including Mr. Alhasan Yakubu but nothing has been done.

He further alleged that the deputy minister took five million Ghana cedi’s as the chairman of the agric subcommittee of the farmers day celebration but he misappropriated that amount.
