Development Queen for New Akrade, Nana Sakwabea-Nkosoohemaa has officially handed over a 10-seater public toilet to New Akrade, a community in the Asuogyamang District, Eastern Region on 26th July, 2019.
The public toilet facility comes as the first developmental project promised by the Development Queen when she was enstooled.
The facility was handed over in the presence of Hon. Samuel Kwame Agyekum, D.C.E for Asuogyaman, Miss. Mavis Akonnor, Asuogyamang Constituency Women’s Organizer, Mr. Annor Frank, Presby J.H.S. Headmaster, and Hon. William Yirenkyi, Akrade Assemblyman.
Chiefs present were; Nana Okrakata V-Akrade Krowura, Nana Samanko II, Nana Offei Boadu-Tufuhene, Omanhene Akwamanfie, Nana Sakwabea I-Nkosoohemaa, Nana Offei Boadu Ayeboafo II-Dabehene of Akrade, Nana Okofo Barima-Tufuhene of New Akrade, Nana Owusuah I-Ankobeahemaa, Nana Tenkorang Agyemang-Ankobeahene, Nana Asare Kontimako-Amankrodo II of New Akrade, Nana Asamani II-Gyasehene of Akrade, Ɔpanyin Kwasi Djan-Mmeratehene, Ɔpanyin Sam Awuku-Ohemea Abusuapanyin, Ɔpanyin Adomako-Tufuhene Abusuapanyin.
According to the Nkosoohemaa after her enstoolement, a public place of convenience which was lacking in the community became her priority.
Many people underrate toilet facilities, but as humans, disposal of excreta should be done in a convenient and hygienic environment.
Irresponsible disposal of human waste in the open and unhygienic place leads to various diseases of which we spend so much in treating.
She further urged the entire community to take responsible in taking good care of the toilet facility.
Nana Okrakata V, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the community to the Development Queen in fulfilling her first project for the community.
He stressed that, anyone caught indulging in open defecation after the opening of the toilet facility will be arrested and dealt with in accordance of law.
The overseers and users of the facility were urged to take very good care and ensure proper management.
Adding, the District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman, Hon. Samuel Kwame Agyekum, also thanked Nana Sakwabea for her good deed.
“Asuogyaman distrist, now has By-Law, therefore, anyone caught in open defecation will face the law duly”, he noted.
Developmental works shouldn’t be left onto the Nana Sakwabea alone because she is the Nkosoohemaa, therefore everyone should join the train in developing Akrade.
