EDAIF to support farmers to expand agriculture in Ghana

The Export Trade Agriculture and Industrial Development fund (EDAIF) was set up in 2001 to support agriculture and industrial export in Ghana.

Speaking on Rite FM “Agric Forum”, the branch officer in charge of EDAIF in Ho, Mr. Ali Salifu said, government of Ghana taught of doing something to reduce the importation of goods from outside the country, hence the set up EDAIF to give support in a form of credit and grant to farmers and agro-processing company to add value to agro products and open up the market.

He said even though it’s a public fund, it needs requirement before one can be given the credit, adding that, people will benefit from the fund upon the mandate on which EDAIF  operates.

Mr. Ali indicated that, for a farmer to be given support by EDAIF, he has to register his farm and have a proposal and a certificate that really shows that the farm has been registered and also for a peasant farmer, he/she has to be in a recognizable farmer based organization be he can access the fund.

He pledged their commitment to support farmers financially.
