YKMA Vows To Establish An Agric Sub-Committee

Establishing a sub-committee as a priority came up during a workshop held at the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly on the 15th and 16th of October 2015. This was when Rite FM’s Mobilizing Action towards Agricultural sector Improvement, MAASI made its stop there.

Facilitator for the workshop wondered why a district that prides itself of some 60% of its people actively engaged in farming activities and the value chain of farming did not find it worthy establishing a district agricultural sub-committee to adequately manage the affairs of its farmers.

He noted that though the district indeed had all of its five legal sub-committees, it was still imperative that a district which boasts of the majority of its people one way or the other involved in farming must see the establishment of an agriculture sub-committee as critical to the success of its farmers.

Director of Agriculture for the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, Mr. Philip K. Awuah at the end of it all agreed that his district could not afford to do without the sub-committee. He noted that indeed the sub-committee if established would greatly involve itself with farmers and thereby getting involved in the issues of farming and farmers firsthand.

He promised to push the district to appreciate the need and urgency in not only maintaining the legal and mandatory sub-committees but see the importance in establishing a sub-committee on agriculture , at least before the end of the year.
