Yilo Krobo District Police Command Impounded Over Hundred Motorbikes

Yilo Krobo Municipal Police command of the Ghana Police Service has joined the national fight against motor riders who go contrary to the driving and road safety regulations impounding on several motorbikes at its custody.

“The exercise we did was not only in Somanya, but the whole Ghana, because it was national exercise with authority from the headquarters. We arrested drivers who don’t have helmet, license, documents of the motorbike and also careless driving. Even if you have helmet and is not on your head we will arrest you,” ASP Isaac said.

Speaking to the Municipal Commander, ASP Isaac Otsin disclosed to Rite News anchor, Austin Ofori Addo, the impoundment and arrest of motorbikes and their drivers was an exercise motivated by consistent recalcitrant attitude exhibited, despite numerous cautions giving to the motor riders.

“Every driver has rules and regulations to obey. Motor expose all parts of the body unlike cars that have doors to protect drivers and passengers.”

“There are many motor drivers who has helmet but don’t wear it rather hang it beside their motors while driving. I don’t even know if it is fashion or what,” he said.

According to the Municipal Commander, the purpose of the excise was to protect lives, because a person’s life is not valuable only to the family but also for the nation.
