Yara Ghana Limited will set up a fertilizer manufacturing plant in Ghana in the next five years to help produce and supply quality fertilizer at cheaper prices to support the country’s Agricultural sector.

However, the company has initiated moves to build a terminal at the Tema Port to ease the importation of fertilizer into the country.
The marketing officer further disclosed that, the terminal would also serve as an import terminal for the importation of semi-finished products and other inputs when the plan becomes operational.
According to him, the company has this intension to help promote the agric sector and also encourage more youth to venture the industry since fertilizer supply is a big challenge to most farmers in the country.
He added: the creation of the plants will also create job platform and minimize the unemployment rate in the country.
Mr. Kwame Okyere said the high cost of fertilizer is a contributive factor why most farmers ran away from the sector; the problem he blamed not on fertilizer producers but rather on taxes paid before clearing the fertilizers from the port and manufacturing cost.
