Woman dies in Agomanya after being hit by a KIA truck

  • The victim, who died on Tuesday evening, is thought to be in her 70s 
  • She was crossing the Road at Agomanya when she was hit by a vehicle
  • The driver sped off and reported the incident to the Odumase Police

A woman has died in Agomanya near Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern region late Tuesday evening in a hit-and-run accident involving a KIA truck.

The victim, thought to be in her seventies was hit by the truck whose registration number could not be immediately ascertained.

The incident happened as the deceased crossed the Odumase-Kpong road at a spot called Roman junction at Agomanya when the driver failed to stop.

The vehicle subsequently hit her, but did not stop at the scene. The driver who was said to be afraid for his life after the incident reportedly drove to the Odumase Krobo Police station where he lodged a complaint of the accident.

The late afternoon occurrence according to eyewitnesses occurred when the deceased only identified as madam Dede who was on her way to a ‘Christian Mothers’ meeting at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Agomanya together with two others attempted crossing the road after alighting from another vehicle.

The eyewitnesses said while madam Dede’s other two companions managed to cross to the road, the older woman decided to return to the other side which resulted in the fatal accident with the oncoming truck, resulting in her instant death.

The corpse was subsequently conveyed to the mortuary at the St. Martin De Porres Hospital at Agomanya.
