WIAD Partners Church To Train Women In Soya Beans Preparation

By Michael Oberteye:

The Women In Agric Development wing of the Lower Manya Krobo Department Of Agric has in collaboration with the Divine Healers Church, West Kpong Assembly held a training workshop for some women in the church. The workshop which came off on Friday at the premises of the church enabled the two bodies to empower the women in the preparation of various dishes from soya beans.

Madam Hilda Huadzi, Desk Officer for the Women In Agriculture Development (WIAD) explained to Rite news that the programme was an initiative of the church’s Women’s Fellowship which invited her outfit to come offer them the necessary skills in using soya beans in foods to build up their bodies.

According to her, the Mobilizing Action towards Agric Sector Improvement project undertaken by Rite FM over the past year offered WIAD the opportunity to educate and tell cooperate organizations to call them for such exercises. This she explained was what informed the Women’s Fellowship to collaborate with WIAD in this regard.

She described soya beans as a high quality nutritious food that provides the consumer with a balanced diet meal. Aside the variety of dishes from soya beans such as soya milk, soya tom brown, soya khebab, etc, the women were also taken through the preparation of other dishes such as rice kaklo and rice akple to mention just a few.

Madam Huadji was optimistic that aside applying the skills in preparing the dishes for domestic consumption, the women would also engage their skills in preparing the dishes for commercial purposes in order to earn a living, adding that operators of ‘chop bars’ should equally use soya beans in preparing their stuff especially since ‘it comes as a cheap and affordable commodity which everyone can afford.’

Miss Lydia Tetteh leader of the District women fellowship told Rite news that though the workshop was for members of the church; other interested women who were not part of the church were invited to be part of the process.
