We never blamed Hon. Osei Akoto, Hon. Kan Dapaah; cattle farmers debunk allegation.

President of Ghana National Association of Cattle Farmers, Imam Hanafi Sonde has debunked the allegation leveled against the association by some media houses that their outfit has blamed the Ministers for Food and Agriculture and National Security, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Hon. Kan Dapaah respectively for the recent attack on Fulani in the country.

Speaking to Mr. Hanafi on Rite News stated he was so surprise to hear such allegation on air since he never made such statement against the ministries and does not know where that issue was coming from.

According to him, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Minister of National Security are doing a great job to curb the situation at hand as they have initiated a policy dubbed “cattle ranching policy” to help seek lasting solution to the Fulani and farmers battle.

He added that the policy will allocate grazing reserves to the cattle farmers to prevent cattle farmers from grazing on crop farms.

He further stated that they have waited too long to find solution to these problems and so such step by the two ministries deserves their praise. He has called on the media and other stakeholders to support and put all hand on deck behind the two ministries to find solution to Fulani herdsmen and crop farmers’ menace.

Imam Hanafi Sonde urged both the farmers, the members of his association as well as other Fulani groups who hail from other countries to seek pasture for their animals to prioritize peace and follow the right channel for the benefit of the country.

Nine people were reported dead in a recent clash between the Fulani herdsmen and local farmers in Kwahu in the Eastern Region.
