WAEC now flying exam papers to curb leaks

Citi News has picked up reports that authorities of the West African Examination Council, WAEC, have adopted a new means of transporting exam questions following the recent leakage in the ongoing West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Sources say the Council now flies examination questions to various regions on the morning of the paper, before they are distributed.

Previously, the question papers were transported to the various centers via road. It is unclear however how this new system of transportation will curb leakages.

For several years, WAEC has been hit with several leakages. This has led to the cancellation of exams with pressure piling on the council to put its house in order.

The National Association of Graduate Teachers, NAGRAT, has called on the the governing board of the WAEC to be dissolved for a new one to be constituted.

President John Dramani Mahama has also expressed government’s disappointment over the constant leakage of examination papers, and asked the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), to put its house in order to protect the integrity of its certificates.
