Tragedy At Agomanya – Father Of Four Electrocuted To Death

Tragedy struck Friday night at a vehicle washing bay located at the Roman Junction at Agomanya in the Manya Krobo district of the Eastern region when a young believed to be in his early thirties was electrocuted to death.

Narrating the incident to Rite news, manager at the facility, Mr. Peter Enoch told this reporter that about 6pm on Friday, Michael reported for work after returning from the mortury from where he and others had took a deceased for the funeral rites. According to him, his boys typically attended to their work as usual without any trouble.

It was business as usual as one of his boys used the water hose used in the washing of the vehicle, known in their parlance as ‘the gun’ to wash the vehicle of a customer who had come to have his vehicle washed.

Enoch went on that the victim by name Michael Aboda, perhaps impatient in waiting for his colleague to finish with the equipment before having his turn to perform his task, snatched the gun from his colleague.

‘No sooner had he snatched the gun from his colleague than he screamed for help that the gun had shocked him,’ Enoch narrated. Sensing danger, they rushed their fallen colleague to the St. Martin’s catholic hospital at Agomanya but Michael was pronounced dead on arrival.

The matter was subsequently reported to the Odumase Krobo police who are investigating the circumctances that led to the death of the young man.

The death of Michael who had been working at the washing bay for the past two years came as a shock to his manager and his colleagues. What baffles Enoch the more, he pointed out was the fact that he personally touched the gun which shocked Michael, soon after the incident and that he wasn’t shocked.

According to him, this was not the first time a worker had received an electric shock at the place. He said a few months ago, one of the workers was similarly shocked by the gun when he was performing a duty.

On the way forward to avert future incidents of this nature, Mr. Enoch Peter assured that they were going to investigate the cause of the unfortunate incident and improve on their safety measures to avert a possible recurrence.

Michael left behind a wife and four children.
