The Youth Are The Future Of Mechanized Farming In Ghana – Expert

Mr. Kamal Ram, Chief Executive Officer of Foundries and Agricultural Machinery (Gh) Ltd has reiterated the call that the future of merchandised farming in Ghana largely depended on the youth who are fixated with moving from one office to the other in search of white color jobs in Accra and other cities in the country.

Mr. Riexinger who was speaking with Rite news during the just ended FAGRO show in Accra stated that encouraging and convincing young people to appreciate the need to come into merchandise farming was one sure factor of luring them into the sector.

The astute mechanized farming expert noted that portraying the business module of mechanized farming to young people coupled with the conviction of money making ventures in the sector was crucial in arousing their interest into considering farming as a secure source of income compared to the so-called white collar jobs.

This he was certain would serve as the catalyst to get a lot of the country’s youth interested in agriculture together with giving them the requisite technical knowledge and this he noted was a gradual process.

To him, bringing the youth into food production levels in the country would increase production level which in turn leads to lower cost in food production.

He however urged authorities to promote mechanized farming which he argued was a catalyst to food security in Ghana.
