The Agric Sector Is Crawling

President of the Lower Manya Krobo Mango Farmers Association, Mr. Edward Amanor has revealed that contrary expectations, the agriculture sector is crawling fifty nine years after the country gained independence.

According to him, there has been no noticeable improvement in the agric sector except more setbacks. This is evident in the many complaints of problems and frustrations that continue to grip farmers

He lamented about the fact that not much has changed since the overthrow of the first president in 1966, adding that what is still prevalent is the old farming methods which is detrimental to modern agricultural trends and thus affecting the growth of the agric sector.

He said today’s farming trends did not encourage the use of primitive farming methods such as the use of cutlasses and hoes and has thus tasked the government to sit up and improve the sector.

Mr. Amanor also called on Ghanaians to shed off the unfortunate perception that farming was only the reserve of illiterates since educated people were now actively engaged in the sector.
