Two experts, Mr. Alex Forjuor Agricultural Director at the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly and Mr. Asumen Derek, an Economist have counsel the Agriculture Industry, especially farmers to adopt the modern ways of farming.
This reservation came during the opening of the RAF 2017 edition and the Rite Morning Ride at Ensign College Of Public Health.
He added, farmers should take note and add value to their products by applying fertilizers and other chemicals which would enhance their produce to make them exceptional to the consumer.
Going forward, he said “tax on farming and farm inputs must be make free and accessible to the farmers. Risk on farming must also be reduced to so that they can gain access to credit facilities. Marketing for farmers is also poor. Improving access to roads would also improve access to market.”
Aaccording to Mr. Derek Asumen, government and insurance companies must see to it that risk policies are made available to farmers.
“Agricultural Insurance be made implemented so farmers would be able to take risk without fear of huge loss.”
Mr. Forjuor from Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly who spoke on the fight of the army worms stated “the fall army worm has affected plants but farmers must recognize the need to talk to extension officers during that time so they can be well dealt with.”
The officer advise that Agric Extension Officers should be equipped in whatever area their services are needed.
He called on Districts and Municipal Assemblies to support Rite Fm effort in promoting Agriculture in the country.
Both officer Captain Adabuga spoke to during the Morning Ride show accorded that farmers must invest in education by attending exchange programs since it would equip them with the requisite their farm produce.
