The Eastern Regional Director of National Commission for Civic Education, Mr. Alex Sackey said, political parties should stay away from the upcoming assembly elections.
According to him, assembly election is a non-partisan concept and therefore politicians should not interfere in the exercise.
He said that, political parties have penetrated into the assembly because, some of the members are being sponsored by political parties and when it happens like that, it affects the makeup of the assembly because, people vote for people on party lines and not on competence.
Mr. Alex said this, at a program for focus group discussion and durbar organized for the chiefs and people of Obawale in the Yilo Krobo Municipality on the district elections
He added that, it is time women are given the chance to take part in the assembly concept, because if they are giving the chance, they can do well and bring improvement in the assemblies.
He therefore advised, the general public to put every grievance and apathy they have and turn out to vote massively because, the only way we can get development, is through the assembly concept.
