Shai Chief Offers Land for One District, One Factory Program

By Joyce Bedeley:

The chief of Manya Jorpanya traditional area in the Shai State in the Shai –Osuduku District, Dr Djahene Korabo IV has promised to lease a vast land to support government’s flagship programme, ‘one district, one factory’ project which is yet too commenced by the NPP government.   This is in line with his traditional council’s determination to ensure the provision of jobs to the youth of his area through the project.

Dr. Korabo made these assertions with Rite news, welcomed the ‘one district, one factory’ project, noting that ‘the chiefs in the traditional area are fully prepared and willing to support the vision of the president. This he indicated has prompted him and other chiefs within the area to pledge their readiness to support government’s intentions of establishing factories in all districts, particularly the Shai Osudoku district.

He was convinced that a mango factory would help the district a lot especially in the wake of vast acres of mango plantations in the Shai Osudoku district.

‘Shai Osudoku is noted for its huge production of mangoes and I’ll therefore plead with the country, Nana Addo to set up a mango factory in fulfillment of the ‘One District, One Factory project,’ he observed and called on all to support the cause since it will elevate poverty from the country and also create more employment opportunities for the unemployed in the various districts.

The ‘One District, One Factory’ Progarmme is a flagship industrialization programme promised by the NPP during the 2016 electoral campaign and it is aimed at building a factory in each of the 216 districts in the country.

It would also provide networking opportunities, assistance with financial planning and financial management, regulatory and legal compliance, links to strategic partners for market and community access.

  1. This idea is one of it’s kind.
However, I want to believe the land to be released has the necessary backings from the stakeholders of it.
