Scarce Spare Parts Of Combine Harvesters Affecting Akuse Rice Farmers

By Austin Ofori Addo:

Owners of combine harvesters at Akuse are complaining that they find it difficult gathering the parts of the combine harvester machines to replace the damaged ones.

Mr. Ayertey Henry, one of such frustrated owners of a combine harvester, lamented to Rite news how much frustrations and he and his colleagues have to face in their quest to find the appropriate spare parts for their equipment.

According to him, affected farmers who have their combine harvesters are compelled to park them off for a longer period before getting the parts which sometimes brings misunderstanding between them and the farmers since they always fail to harvest their rice as the agreement between them dictates.

In the end, most of the innocent and poor farmers lose out as they are affected by the delay.

Meanwhile minister of agric, Alhaji Mohammed Limuna has indicated to Rite news that government has imported 549 combine harvesters’ accessories from Brazil to boost agriculture production in Ghana.

According to him, currently, 140 of the tractors and combine harvesters have arrived at the Tema port and which have been cleared by the ministry, adding that the new equipment will be targeted towards women and the youth to encourage them to go into agriculture production.
