Sack Nunoo-Mensah; he doesn’t deserve his salary – Ken Kuranchie

Editor-In-Chief of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, Ken Kuranchie, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to immediately sack the head of Human Security from his government for failing to act swiftly to avert the striking action by the medical doctors.

According to Mr. Kuranchie, Brigadier-General Nunoo-Mensah (Rtd) should have been the first government official to have detected the action of the Ghana Medical Association and advise the President accordingly.

“As head of human security, if he had been doing his work well, he should have played a role in the impasse between the striking doctors and the government somewhere along the line. You have sat and watched people die without giving any advice to the President but rather chose to lambast the doctors on radio and outline the policy position of the government.

“Nunoo-Mensah has to be sacked because his contribution in this exercise has not been helpful. He has not even been bothered to ask the Health Minister or the President about the situation. What briefing has he been giving to the President about this particular issue? We’ve been paying him monthly to deliver something to us – to ensure that we have adequate human security in our country. Doctors have been on strike for days and our children, mothers, fathers and relatives are dying. What has been his advice to the government? He does not deserve the salary we pay him,” he said.

Kenneth Kuranchie made this observation in an interview with Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Mi So on Kasapa 102.3 FM Friday.

Brigadier-General Nunoo-Mensah (Rtd) had told Owusu Adjei on the same program that the government should look elsewhere and contract some medical doctors to take care of Ghanaians if its doctors are not willing to return to work after two weeks of strike over poor conditions of service.

But when asked if he had advice the government accordingly with his proposal, he answered in the negative.

But Ken Kuranchie in a sharp rebuttal said the security capo doesn’t deserve the position he was occupying and called on the President to act swiftly by terminating his appointment.

“Left to me alone, I would have sacked him right away. He shouldn’t come and make a bad situation worse.”
