RICE FARMERS GO WILD OVER INADEQUATE COMBINE HARVESTER
Rice farmers in Asutsuare in the Shai Osudoku district express worry over inadequate combine harvesters in this major season, that the ones they have in their custody had broken down for several years without being repaired and the only option is to rely on individual service providers for support.
In interview with Rite fms news, Mr. Philip Akpoka who is one of the rice farmers in Asutsuare said, they have begun their major farming activities but their biggest challenge has to do with combine harvesters which they hired from private individual at a higher cost.
He explained they heard recently that the Ministry of Food and Agriculture – MOFA has recently brought in new combine harvesters but not kwnowing; they are rather maize harvester, stating that engineers are now working on them to be use as rice harvesters.
Mr. Akpoka has therefore called on government to come to their aid.
