Refusal to take receipts for purchases can cause you jail terms – AFOTEY ODAI

Chief Inspector of the Ghana Prisons Service, Evangelist Affotey Odai has advised the general public to take receipts of every item they buy from companies, stores and individuals for security and unforeseen reasons.

According to him, most consumers buy items from dealers without demanding receipts. This practice, he said could sometimes end consumers in serious problems in the event that the purchased item turns to be stolen item/good.

“It is advisable to buy items from licensed dealers and also demand for receipts after purchasing, because the law assumes that items bought without receipts are stolen items and that is why the law punishes those who bought stolen items severely than the criminal,” Mr. Afotey  told Rite Morning Ride host, Captain Adabugar on Wednesday morning.

He cautioned against buying of stolen items since the law does not spare a defaulters ignorance.
