Referee Lamptey handed first assignment at Under-20 World Cup

Ghana’s referee Joseph O. Lamptey, has been handed his first assignment at the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Referee Lamptey, one of the key middle men at the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea, will be the fourth official in the first Group D game between Uruguay and Serbia at the   Otago Stadium, Dunedin on Sunday, May 3; ‘’ Rite Sports understands.

The Ghanaian will provided assistance on the fourth sit for middle referee Sato Ryuji from Japan with assistance from Yagi Akane and Yamauchi Hisoshi also from Japan on lines one and two respectively. Referee Lamptey’s appointment comes after he passed the mandatory fitness test by FIFA, earlier in the week.
