Prez Akufo Addo Meets United Kingdom Prime Minister Today

A communique signed by the Director of Communications at the presidency, Mr. Eugene Arhin has it that His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has left the country yesterday Sunday 19th November, 2017 to the United Kingdom in a 3 day official visit to strengthen bilateral relation with the colonial masters, United Kingdom.

The president will on Monday 20th November meet the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rt. Hon. Theresa May, MP. The discussions between the two heads of state will centre on strengthening the ties of co-operation between the two countries, and moving the bilateral relations to a point beyond aid, and on the Commonwealth as preparations for next year’s Commonwealth Summit intensify.

He (president) will later on in the day deliver a speech under the subject “Democracy and Development” at the Cambridge Union Society of the University of Cambridge.

The Royal African Society, Facebook and the Ghana 60 years on Committee will welcome the Ghana’s first gentleman Tuesday 21st November, where he will outline his vision for progress and prosperity of the continent under the topic: “Africa beyond Aid”.

In accordance with Article 60 clause 8 of the 1992 constitution which states “when the president is absent from Ghana or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of his office, the vice president shall perform the function of the president until the president returns or able to perform his functions”, the vice president, His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mawudu Bawumia shall serve as President till President Akufo Addo returns Tuesday 21st November, 2017.
