Poor Marketing Affecting Mango Farmers

Mango farmers located in the Lower Manya district of the eastern region are complaining bitterly about poor marketing strategies which is adversely affecting their sales.

In an interview with Mr. John Sackey who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of J.K Farms, he told Rite fm that poor marketing strategies have affected their sales during the major season. He also said even though companies such as Blue skies and HPW came to purchase their fruits, their expectations were not met, since other companies turned their purchase in favour of fruits from other countries like as Senegal and Burkina Faso.

He further lamented that their sales sharply dropped to just about 1500 tons from a projected 5000 tons during the major season. This according to him has affected their profit margins. He said they only took consolation in the fact that at least they broke even as they managed to recover how much they spent in their production processes.

That is not all; he further added that due to the delay of the rains this season, their crops were engulfed with various diseases, further adding to their woes. He added that another challenge affecting them as mango farmers is poor road network which adversely affects their transport of their produce from the farmland to the market Centres.
