Police begin search for Tuobodoum gunmen

The Police command in Techiman say they have begun a manhunt for the unidentified persons who yesterday visited mayhem on Tuobodom in the Brong Ahafo Region, leading to the death of some four persons and leaving scores injured. According to the Police, the shooting was carried out by some aggrieved youth, numbering about five who stormed the town on motorbikes and shot indiscriminately at some residents.

They believe the incident was as a result of a prolonged chieftaincy dispute in the area.

The injured have since been admitted at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman.

The Divisional Commander of the Techiman Police Command, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Twumasi Ankrah told  Citi News they would work to apprehend the perpetrators.

He said the peace has returned to the area adding that “the case is under investigation. It is my prayer that people will come forward and help us with information so that the culprits will be identified and arrested.”

“There have been a protracted chieftaincy dispute, which I’m aware of. The 16 months that I have been here there have not been any occasion where there have been a strike between the two faction so it is unfortunate that this has happened that which will mar the peaceful atmosphere here in Tuobodom,” Chief Superintendent Twumasi Ankrah added.
