Plant Resistant Seeds to Withstand Climate Changes – Plant Doctor

Mr Jeremiah Nuertey, Extension Officer who doubles as a Plant Doctor in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region has advised farmers to research about plants and seeds before going into plantation as the effect of climate change still exist.

Speaking in an interview with Edwin Larbi on Rite FM’s Kuapayo on the effects of climate changes on plants, the doctor noted that it was advisable to conduct laboratory tests on the various types of plants and seeds to know their reaction to climate changes to determine what to plant at a point in time and what not to plant.

According to him, the effects of climate changes on plants and seeds is very significant and still exist which is why farmers need to be very careful in choosing their plants.

‘The effects of climate changes on plants and seeds is very significant and still exist which is why farmers need to be very careful in choosing their plants and seeds for various seasons by using resist seeds or plants that  can withstand or survive climate changes.’

One step of checking the effect of climate change, Mr. Nuettey observed was for famers to leave foliage on the ground after weeding.
