PAY ATTENTION TO DEPRIVED COMMUNITIES- CONCERNED FARMERS

The president of the Concerned Farmers Association, Nana Opambour Bonsu Boateng has called on government to pay massive attention to farming communities in the rural areas in the country. According to him, farming communities in the rural areas have been neglected from government’s plans for far too long.

Nana Opambour Boateng speaking on Rite Fm’s “Agric Forum” last Saturday commended government on the upgrading and construction of Cocoa roads in the country but lamented that it is performing poorly in the Agricultural sector.

He said there are farming communities in the Volta region that produce huge numbers of vegetables to the market but these communities lack water to the extent that they share those same water sources with cattle. This according to him has resulted in epidemics in the area.

Nana Opambour explained that the Gh c 5m we have allocated for the celebration of farmers Day in the rural areas continues to suffer and he therefore called on all farmers to boycott this year’s Farmers’ Day celebrations because it is useless to the cause of farmers.
