Parents Urged To Show Commitment to Their Wards’ Education

The Member of Parliament for the Asuogyaman constituency, Hon Apem Nyarko has urged parents to show commitment to their wards’ education to make them responsible adults in future.

The Hon MP speaking in an interview with Rite News  said parents should see their wards’ education as an investment to compel them to show bigger commitment to education to enable them undertake such responsibilities dutifully.

According to him, such show of commitment will secure a good future for their wards.

The lawmaker said parents did not have any excuses to deny their children education since education was now free at the basic and senior high school level. He was emphatic that the role of parents in this regard is non-negotiable.

“Education is now free from the basic level to the Senior High School and parents must therefore take advantage of the opportunity at hand to educate their children or be held responsible if they shirk their responsibilities,” Hon Nyarko stressed.

“Parents have a role to play and they should play that role and play it very well so that they can boast of a great future for their children,” he added.

The former DCE for the Asuogyaman district disclosed that the district has prioritized education to ensure that the sector remains the focal point of the district.

“Education is one of Asuogyaman’s important priorities and we all must therefore contribute to make sure that obligation continues,” he admonished.

Hon. Ampem Nyarko charged parents to use their resources judiciously and refrain from “wasting” such monies on less important ventures such as funerals. According to him, parents are better off shaping their wards’ future by making sure that they take their academic work seriously since “education is the only property for our wards.”

“Education is the only property that we can give as parents to our children and the key to success and so there is the need for us as parents to work hard towards that gift for our children and one day we will reap positively from the good work done,” he noted.

He also promised to organize a mock examination for BECE candidates in the Asuogyaman district this year to adequately prepare them for their final examination.

“To prepare the students well enough for the impending final exams, your Member Of Parliament has decided that this year, I will organize one important mock examination for all BECE candidates to prepare them ahead of the examination,” he assured.

“I have also announced that during the period of the BECE examination, every candidate in this district will be fed one hot meal a day as a way of encouraging them to give out their best to improve the academic status of the district,” he added.
