Paintsil Pens 2- year Maritzburg Contract Extension

Information reaching Rite Sports indicates that, Ghana defender John Paintsil has signed a new two- year deal with South African side Maritzburg United following an impressive performance under Coach Steve Komphela this season. The 30 – year – old joined the Pietermaritzburg- base outfit last season from Santos fc in the South Africa National First Division.

He has been described by pundits as a revelation this term in the Premier Soccer League.

However, Paintsil featured 27 times for Maritzburg, who finish 8th for the first time in the club history.

He has been capped 88 times with Ghana, but is yet to make a return after the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. He was a member of Ghana’s team that played at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa in 2010.

Paintsil joined West Ham after the 2006 World Cup and spend two seasons at the Boleyn Ground before completing a move to Fulham in 2008.
