Over 200 Tons of Several Fish Captured in 2014

An assessment of fishing in Angola for the past year revealed that some 246 tons and 281 kilograms of several fish were captured from January to December 2014, in Uíge province, against 188 tons and 557 kilograms captured in 2013.

Speaking to the Angola Press (ANGOP) on Tuesday, the head of Department for Continental Fishing and Aquaculture in Uíge, Nsuka Kupessa Ndongala said that the amount of fish recorded was captured by fishermen from 44 associations formed in several municipalities of the province.

The official clarified that 1,995 fishermen were trained in 2014 on techniques and methods of modern fishing, mesh size and repair of nets in 15 of the 16 municipalities of Uíge province.
