Okro Shortage Hits Market

Traders who deal in the sales of okro in Somanya in the Yilo Krobo municipality of the Eastern region have bitterly complained about the shortage of okro which is sadly affecting their trading activities. This is despite several efforts on their parts to get the product from farmers within the municipality.

Mr. J.B. Teye, an okro farmer who disclosed this to Rite news said though the price of the product was unstable last year, it averagely sold for Gh c 50 when it was in its abundance. He did not end there as he went on to compare last year’s price to this year’s which he pegged at Gh c 150.00.

He attributed the shortage to the climate change which badly affected crop production last year resulting in all their farms not doing well at all and stressed that the situation needs urgent attention.
